Carrant Brook School was opened in September 1980. It was designed to cater for the educational needs of junior age children and can accommodate a two form entry of 240 children, with an admission number of 60 each year. Presently we have 7 classes and a NOR of approximately 165.

There are excellent teaching and learning facilities in the school, including a library and resource centre, computers in every class and a computer suite, extensive playing fields, a large gymnasium and assembly hall, and seven well equipped classrooms.

We have very close liaison and links with Northway Infant School from which the majority of our children transfer and with Tewkesbury Secondary School, which most children attend from the age of 11. The three schools run a range of joint initiatives both academic and pastoral.

Carrant Brook Junior School Aims:

  • To be a school where everyone feels valued and respected
  • A place with a warm, happy, calm, safe atmosphere where everyone enjoys working together and learning

  • An ethos which celebrates achievement and recognizes everyone’s success

  • A place which has consistent high standards and expectations for all and where academic achievement is not the only measure of success

  • A place where children become responsible citizens, effective contributors, successful learners and confident individuals

  • Our ethos values all children as individuals, raising self-esteem and creating a positive atmosphere through our interactions with the children and each other

  • We believe in a broad, balanced and creative curriculum with many opportunities for first-hand experience. Teaching takes account of learning styles and all abilities, developing the whole child for their future

  • We are an effective team who support each other and work for the positive development of our children, within an open, honest and supportive environment

  • Our environment is safe, stimulating and well-ordered. It supports children’s learning and celebrates achievements.
