RSHE

Statutory requirements

From September 2020 Relationships (Sex) and Health Education is compulsory in all infant, junior and primary schools

At Carrant Brook Junior School, and as part of the GLA Trust we teach RSHE as set out in this policy.

Aims

The aims of Relationships and Sex Education and Health Education (RSHE) at our school are to:

  • Provide a framework in which sensitive discussions can take place
  • Give pupils understanding of the importance of health and hygiene
  • Help pupils develop feelings of self-respect, confidence and empathy
  • Create a positive culture around issues of sexuality and relationships
  • Teach pupils the correct vocabulary to describe themselves and their bodies.

RSHE aims to equip children and young people with the: information, skills and values

Which they will need to lead: safe, fulfilling, enjoyable relationships

And which will help them go on to: take responsibility for their sexual health and wellbeing.

Information for parents about our RSHE curriculum, which is taught through the JIGSAW PSHE scheme is below.
